About The Hundred

Welcome! Between a flood of information and short attention spans, it has become increasingly difficult to understand what is happening in the world. By giving people with little knowledge giant platforms, social media often makes things worse.

The Hundred rests on a simple idea: Every edition, we give 3 experts 100 words to provide their analysis on 1 question that matters. Some questions are related to the topic of the day, others will get you thinking beyond the news cycle. It won’t tell you everything you need to know but it will give you some fresh ideas.

The newsletter is for you if you’re looking for informed analysis from people who genuinely know what they’re talking about but you can’t bring yourself to read another long article.

Who

The Hundred is run by Marcel Dirsus and David Landry. We’ve previously featured experts including:

  • Kori Schake (American Enterprise Institute)

  • Seva Gunitsky (University of Toronto)

  • Brian Klaas (University College London)

  • Jana Puglierin (European Council on Foreign Relations)

  • Rob Lee (King’s College London)

  • Amrita Narlikar (German Institute for Global and Area Studies)

  • Tobias Bunde (Munich Security Conference)

  • Nargis Kassenova (Harvard University)

  • G. Elliot Morris (The Economist)

More Information

The newsletter mostly covers politics. Since the aim of all this is to give readers access to real experts without the need for long articles or hours on social media, many contributors will inevitably be from universities or think tanks but we’re happy to include anyone with relevant expertise and interesting thoughts.

In selecting experts, we don’t aim to create artificial conflict for the sake of entertainment but you will probably find yourself disagreeing with many things you read.
